Darth Vader here is ready to take on all those Jedi knights we saw.
On a recent weekend Heritage opened its doors to several hundred ghouls, goblins and a surprising number of Jedi knights. Our annual Halloween Carnival, now extended to two evenings due to incredible public response, was a huge success again this year, drawing our maximum capacity of 400 visitors both nights.
Thing 2 makes a pumpkin-themed picture frame.
A very convincing Snow White made an appearance, to the delight of lots of smaller princesses.
Kids and their parents went all out in their costumes for the event, which features performances, games, crafts, scavenger hunts, facepainting and a nighttime hayride. Unlike a lot of Halloween happenings, the carnival at Heritage is strictly a non-spooky, non-candy event (parents tell us they like this) with loads to see and do — including the requisite carousel ride in the Art Museum.
But our visitors and staff aren’t the only ones in fancy dress this time of year.
Autumn is in full swing and recently we made some time to get out and enjoy it on a sunny afternoon. Click here to see more autumn gems from the Heritage grounds on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/heritagemuseumsandgardens/sets/72157625224042765/.
